Adelaide Hills

The Adelaide Hills is the perfect start to any South Australian winery experience. Book the ultimate cellar door experience in the iconic Australian winery Penfolds at Magill Estate. Go behind the scenes for a guided walking tour through the original working winery, vineyard, and underground cellars. Not to be missed is The Lane Vineyard where you can blend your wines from one of their cool-climate varietals.

If you plan on doing plenty of tastings, take one of the winery tour services and kick your feet up and relax knowing you are in great hands.

Adelaide Hills was among the first regions of South Australia to be occupied by European settlers and is situated just 30-minutes from the Adelaide CBD. Recognised as a cool-climate region due to the altitude of the hills, which culminate at 710m with Mount Lofty Summit. The revival of the region in the '70s and '80s were led by pioneers such as Brian Croser, Stephen George, Tim Knappstein, Henschke, Geoff Weaver, and Shaw and Smith all searching for a cooler climate.  A wealth of new winemakers have now arrived and are applying their craft to ensure the hills will continue to stay at the forefront of great Australian wine.

Lenswood and Piccadilly are the most notable regions producing superb examples of cool-climate loving varietals such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Noir. There is also plenty of great sparkling wine to be found in them there hill!

The picturesque towns of Aldgate, Stirling, Oakbank, Birdwood, Crafers, Mount Barker and Hahndorf Hill are scattered throughout the hills and are great places visit during your excursion.
