Rhone Valley winery experiences & tours

The Rhone Valley follows the Rhone river from the north just south of Lyon and ending 125 miles later just south of Avignon near the Mediterranean. There are well over 20 grape varieties used in the production of Rhone wines with each appellation having rules permitting the use of only certain grapes. The major red grape variety in Southern Rhone wines is Grenache followed by Syrah, Carignan, and Mourvedre. The major white grape varieties in white wines of the Rhone are Clairette, Grenache Blanc, Ugni Blanc, Bourboulenc, Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier.

The major appellations (or AOC's) in the Southern Rhone wine region are: Cotes du Rhone (the lowest classification and allowed for use in all 171 communes in the Northern and Southern Rhone), Cotes du Rhone Villages, Cotes du Rhone Villages (with the name of the particular village placed after), Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Vacqueyras, Rasteau, and Gigondas. Most of the red wines in the south are dominated by the Grenache grape. The sweet wines called Beaumes de Venise or Muscat de Beaumes de Venise, and dry rose; wines of Tavel should also be noted.

Before the food/wine agreement, a visit of the estate is planned and included. Provide suitable footwear for the vines. This trip can be cancelled in case of bad weather.

This one-of-a-kind location will allow you to compare and contrast four soils of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, as well as the key grape varietals of the Rhône valley. Following your tour to the museum, Maison Ogier will take you to its wine cellar, which still has two Artois wells. This incredible location can hold up to 8000 hectoliters of wine in various wooden vessels. This tour provides you an excellent idea of the work of our oenologists and cellarmen, who work with love and patience to develop wines that reflect the Maison Ogier's individuality. To conclude your tour, a tasting of our cuvées will allow you to learn more about our wines while also connecting them to your newly acquired wine expertise. The visit, which will be guided by the person in charge of oenotourism and her staff, will be ideal for wine lovers who want to learn more about wine and the Rhône valley, as well as professionals who want to expand their expertise.
