English winery experiences & tours

Brilliant English wineries are not rare anymore. Here are some of the best, just a stone's throw from London.

The United Kingdom has a long history of winemaking, but it is not as well-known as some other wine-producing countries. However, in recent years, the UK wine industry has been growing, and there are now several wine regions in the UK that produce high-quality wines.

  • South East England: This region is the largest wine-producing area in the UK and is known for producing sparkling wines, in particular, those made in the traditional method similar to Champagne. The main grape varieties grown in the region are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. Some of the most well-known wine regions in South East England include Kent, Sussex, and Hampshire.

  • West Country: This region is located in the south-west of England, and is known for producing still wines, mostly white wines and some rosé. The main grape varieties grown in the region are Bacchus, Ortega and Reichensteiner.

  • East Anglia: This region is located in the east of England, and is known for producing still wines, mostly white wines. The main grape varieties grown in the region are Bacchus and Riesling.

  • Wales: This region is located in Wales, and is known for producing still wines, mostly white wines. The main grape varieties grown in the region are Seyval Blanc, Madeleine Angevine, and Phoenix.

  • Scotland: This region is located in Scotland, and is known for producing still wines, mostly white wines and some rosé. The main grape varieties grown in the region are Ortega, Siegerrebe, and Schonburger.

These are just a few examples of the wine regions of the UK. The UK wine industry is still relatively small compared to other wine-producing countries, but it is growing and producing increasingly high-quality wines.
