wineUdesign is a winery made for family and friends.  We offer experiences in winemaking and wine blending that are fun and relaxed with information that is easy to absorb and apply to your own relationship with wine. Winemaking experiences are interactive and require a minimum of 11 months aging in barrel before you can bottle and bring home your personally made wine.  Several visits assure that you remain in touch with your wine and in touch with our process, which is as natural and with as little intervention as we've seen in the marketplace. Wine blending experiences are single events, 2 hours in length, geared towards educating about how and why certain varietals are usually merged to make an arguably superior wine.  This is a guided instruction that requires your hands-on interaction to complete the task.  You will come up with something totally unique and it may ruin all other wine for you forever.  We can only hope!   We call this series One Perfect Blend. We know there is a better way to make wine and we demand a better final product.  We believe it starts with U.

Hagafen Cellars is located in the Napa Valley, in the heart of California's premier wine grape region. In 1998, husband and wife, Paula Pivel and Alvaro Lorenzo, decided to establish a small winery in the department of Maldonado, in the southeastern region of Uruguay. With no experience other than being consumers of good wines, they set out in search of a place that combined viticultural aptitude, beautiful landscapes and a good location. The selection of the terroir, considering topography, soil and climate, was decisive to achieve an excellent quality of grapes, essential for the production of high quality wines. Several months of research, advice and studies bore fruit. In the year 2000 they acquired almost twenty hectares in the Sierra de la Ballena, a few kilometres from the sea and Punta del Este, South America's main seaside resort. The first vineyard was planted in the spring of 2001 and continued in the following years until it reached 8 hectares. The vineyards are composed of Merlot, Tannat, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Viognier varieties. The first harvest took place in 2005 and the first wines were presented to the market in 2007. Fripp Vineyards and Winery is a family winery with a young spirit.  The establishment was born in the 70's, where the vineyards, the winery, the cellar and the new restaurant are located. At present, Fripp Viñedos y Bodegas produces 15,000 bottles of fine wines with seven different varieties. Viñedos de Alcohuaz is located in the Andes Mountains, at the 30th parallel of the south latitude, with altitudes ranging between 1,650 meters and 2,206 meters above sea level. Alcohuaz wines are high-altitude wines, with the unmistakable effect of the triangulation of three fundamental factors: the sun, granite soils and altitude. These three factors result in unusually thick-skinned grapes, which is why at Alcohuaz we do the initial pressing of the grapes the old-fashioned way, with the feet. Don Maximiano Errázuriz Valdivieso, who founded Viña Errázuriz in 1870, was a man of great vision and wide-ranging talents. As a member of a family that has played an important role in Chile’s social and cultural life over two and a half centuries, Errázuriz carried out duties as a politician, diplomat and as a great entrepreneur. Unlike his peers, he set his eyes on the Aconcagua Valley to plant his vineyards, under the premise “from the best land, the best wines.” Don Maximiano Errázuriz was born in Santiago in 1832, into a family of Spanish Basque origin settled in Chile since 1735. Over two and a half centuries, the family has played a significant role in the country’s cultural, social and political life. It produced two Presidents of the Republic, two Archbishops of Santiago and a considerable number of diplomats, writers and businessmen, who contributed to the development of the country. In 1855 Errázuriz married Amalia Urmeneta, daughter of José Tomás Urmeneta. Don Maximiano and his father-in-law became partners and created a mining company in northern Chile. In those days, it was said that the company produced about one third of the world’s copper production. Errázuriz also created the Compañía de Gas de Santiago (Santiago’s Gas Company), establishing the first public lighting service in the capital. He participated in public life as well, serving as a member of parliament for three terms, as a senator for nine years and as a diplomatic representative for Chile’s government, both in the United States and in the United Kingdom. Unlike other families who had planted French grape varieties in the outskirts of the capital, he followed his pioneering instinct and settled in the Aconcagua Valley, where he founded Viña Errázuriz in 1870 under the premise “from the best land, the best wines”. The 300 hectares planted in Panquehue soon began to be managed according to state of the art viticultaral techniques. Later, his son Rafael would enlarge the planted area to 700 hectares. According to contemporary information, this made Viña Errázuriz the largest winery in the world in the hands of a single owner. 1871 proved to be a crucial year for Don Maximiano: he met and married Carmen Valdés, started building a mansion surrounded by a beautiful park planned by a French landscape designer and embarked on another trip to Europe, this time with his wife. The Sánchez de Loria family descends from Don José Teodoro Sánchez de Loria, who arrived in Chile in 1785, appointed by the King of Spain, to exercise the position of Prosecutor of the Royal Court. Don Enrique Sánchez de Loria Faulkner founded the winery in 1890 convinced of the great quality of the Aconcagua Valley Terroir. He planted vines of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Torontel, making them one of the oldest vines in Aconcagua and Chile. Since then the vineyard has remained in the family, who have known how to maintain the values ​​of originality, quality and tradition from generation to generation, positioning their wines in the highest quality standards, which pleases the most demanding palates. The bunches are handpicked according to their quality and condition. Then the grapes are harvested by hand and harvested in boxes of no more than 10 kgs, so the fruit does not squeeze or lose its juices. In 1984 Bruno Prats and Paul Pontallier, well known Agronomists Winemakers from the Bordeaux region, France, began to search in Chile for a high quality Terroir to create an original vineyard. To do this, they partner with a common friend, Felipe de Solminihac, a Chilean Winemaker Agronomist of French origin. In 1990 they acquired 18 hectares in the surroundings of the city of Santiago, at the foot of the Andes Mountains, in the “Quebrada de Macul”, in the historic heart of the Maipo Valley. The first plantations were made with vines of Bordeaux origin, present in Chile since the end of the 19th century. The wine cellar was completed in 1993. In January 2002 Ghislain de Montgolfier, Agronomist of the Champagne Region and an old friend of the founders, became the fourth partner, or as he says, recalling the novel by Alexandre Dumas, the fourth Musketeer.

Our winery was founded in 1993 by partners Jorge Fontaine Aldunate, owner of Hacienda El Principal, and Jean Paul Valette, French winemaker and former owner of the famous Premier Grand Cru Classé Château Pavie in Saint-Émilion. The history of two passions in a prestigious winegrowing area situated in the Maipo Valley. Our property gently ascends the lower slopes of a spur of the Andes Mountains. In these foothills, between 1992 and 1998, one hundred and fourty hectares of vineyards were planted, mainly with the reds Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, Syrah and Cabernet Franc; and the whites Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The Casablanca Valley is one of the most prestigious areas for the production of cold climate grapes. Located 70 km west of Santiago, it is less than 25 km from the Pacific Ocean. The Cúneo family, of Italian origin, founded Casas del Bosque in 1993 in the Casablanca Valley, located 70 kilometers from Santiago, the capital of Chile, and 30 kilometers from the port of Valparaíso, a UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site. We are Marcos ATTILIO and Angela MOCHI, a Brazilian couple, both food engineers who have been in the wine business since 1999. In 2011, we left our country to build a dream in the Casablanca Valley: planting a small vineyard with 8 different varieties, including the very first Grenache in the Valley, and making cool-climate, high-quality wines on a human scale. We advocate for sustainable practices and give examples by using solar energy, building with refurbished shipping containers, and using organic practices in the vineyard like composting the residues to turn them into fertilizers. A Landscaper and a Winemaker... We are a married couple, formed by a landscaper and a winemaker, who together with our children and in deep connection with the landscape that surrounds us, began the adventure of cultivating our own "small-scale garden vineyard" on the plot where we live. From the beginning, the great challenge and main emphasis of the project has been to discover, interpret and maximize the characteristics of this distinctive terroir to give life to wines that faithfully represent its origin. The vineyard is planted on the south west slope of Cerro Guanaco, 300 meters high, in the commune of Melipilla, on the most coastal edge of the Maipo Valley, offering a beautiful view of the Cholqui valley.

Viña Tres Palacios is a company founded in 1996 by Don Patricio Palacios D. and his wife Maria Inés Covarrubias. Together they took the commitment to carry out this adventure, and thus leave a legacy that rescues the essence of the family. Once they found this magical land almost 30 years ago, they decided to add an element that they consider fundamental: the course of time, respecting the pace of this activity.
